Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 26, 2026

At SubDeck, your privacy is a priority. This Privacy Policy explains how SubDeck: YouTube Subscription Manager ("SubDeck") handles your information.

Data Collection

SubDeck does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data for our own purposes. There is no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no tracking cookies of any kind. The extension operates within your browser, and external communication happens only when you explicitly use the one optional integration:

  • Patreon membership verification (optional, described below). This passes through one small server we operate, which stores nothing.

Apart from that feature, which is off until you turn it on, nothing leaves your device except a folder file you export yourself.

What Data Is Accessed

SubDeck reads your YouTube data within the browser to display and organize your subscribed channels. It uses the same internal YouTube API that the YouTube page itself calls, with the session you are already signed in with; it never sees your Google password and never signs in on your behalf. Specifically, it accesses:

  • Your list of subscribed YouTube channels.
  • Channel names, handles, avatars, and subscriber counts.
  • Video metadata from each channel's uploads: titles, thumbnails, durations, view counts, publish times, and how much of a video you have already watched, which is what the "hide watched" filter uses.

This data is used solely to render the extension's interface and is never sent outside your browser.

SubDeck also performs actions on your YouTube account, but only when you ask it to: unsubscribing from channels, marking a video as watched, and adding a video to Watch Later. These requests go to YouTube and nowhere else.

Local Storage

Folder configurations (names, icons, colors, nesting, and the channels assigned to each), extension settings, and cached channel and video data are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local (or the equivalent browser storage API). If you connect Patreon, its state is stored locally too: your Patreon display name, avatar, membership status, and an access-refresh token. This data never leaves your device except through the optional feature described below.

No Account or Sign-In Required

SubDeck does not require any account creation, sign-in, or registration to use its core features. There are no user profiles, no cookies for tracking, and no analytics scripts embedded in the extension. Signing in with Patreon is optional and only needed to unlock premium features.

Exporting Your Folders

SubDeck can save your folder configuration to a JSON file from Settings, Data. The file is written by your browser to wherever you choose to save it, and importing one merges it into your current folders without deleting anything. This is entirely local: no server of ours, and no third party, is involved at any point. Where the file goes afterwards is up to you.

Patreon Membership (Optional)

Premium features are unlocked by linking a Patreon account. If you choose to use it:

  • Authorization: You sign in through Patreon's own OAuth consent flow, requesting only the identity and identity.memberships scopes. SubDeck never sees or stores your Patreon password.
  • Why a server is involved: A browser extension cannot safely hold the OAuth client secret Patreon requires, so the sign-in code is exchanged by a small Cloudflare Worker we operate. The worker asks Patreon whether your membership is active on the supporting tier and returns the answer. It has no database attached and retains nothing between requests; your Patreon data passes through it and is not written down.
  • What is stored locally: Your Patreon display name, avatar URL, membership status, and a refresh token used to re-check the membership periodically (about once a day). All of it stays in your browser's local storage.
  • What is never accessed: Your payment details, billing address, and pledge amount. Unlocking is decided by membership tier alone.
  • Revoking access: Disconnect at any time from the extension's Account panel, or revoke SubDeck from your Patreon account settings.

Third-Party Services

SubDeck runs on top of YouTube and optionally integrates with Patreon as described above. Each of these services is governed by its own privacy policy, and we are not responsible for their practices.

Data Sharing

SubDeck does not share, sell, rent, or disclose any user data to third parties, and none of it is ever used to train AI or machine-learning models. The only data that leaves your device is what you send to Patreon by using the optional feature above, and it goes to that service on your behalf, not to us.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated occasionally. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of SubDeck after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
